What is Aurals.LC?

Aurals.LC is a free Leaving Cert aural exam practice site. Pick a language and a year on the Aurals.LC homepage, and the official State Examinations Commission audio loads with colour-coded section markers, so you can jump straight to Section A, B, C and so on.

Which languages does Aurals.LC support?

Aurals.LC currently covers eleven Leaving Cert languages:

How do I practise with Aurals.LC?

On Aurals.LC, pick a language and year, hit play, then click any section button to jump straight to that part of the exam. The Aurals.LC player has speed (0.5x to 2x), volume, and 10-second skip controls. Aurals.LC also remembers your last-played audio, position, volume and speed automatically, so you can resume where you left off.

Why is Aurals.LC free?

Paid Leaving Cert revision platforms run roughly €30 to €90 per school year. Grinds cost more. Aurals.LC is free so that the cost of practising the aural exam doesn't depend on what your family can afford or which school you go to. On Aurals.LC, a student at a small rural community school has the same audio, section markers and transcripts as a student at the Institute of Education. There is no signup on Aurals.LC, no payment, and no ads. Aurals.LC is an independent project and is not affiliated with the State Examinations Commission; the audio files Aurals.LC plays are hosted on examinations.ie.

Who built Aurals.LC?

Aurals.LC is built and maintained by Aditya Joshi, a Naughton Scholar studying computer science and business at Trinity College Dublin, and a Business Post 30 Under 30 honouree. Aurals.LC started because the existing aural practice options were either paid revision platforms or raw audio downloads from examinations.ie with no way to jump to a specific section. Aurals.LC is now used by thousands of Irish Leaving Cert students every exam season. Bugs, suggestions, and feature requests for Aurals.LC are read at feedback@aurals.lc.
