Aurals.LC

about

Free Leaving Cert aural exam practice. 22 years of past papers (2004–2025) across 11 languages, with clickable section timestamps. No signup, no ads.

What is Aurals.LC?

Pick a language and a year on the homepage. The official State Examinations Commission audio loads, with colour-coded section markers so you can jump straight to Section A, B, C and so on.

Which languages are supported?

How do I practise?

Pick a language and year, hit play, click any section button to jump there. Speed (0.5x–2x), volume, and 10-second skip are all in the player. Your last-played audio, position, volume and speed are remembered automatically.

Is it really free?

Yes — no signup, no payment, no ads. Aurals.LC is an independent project and is not affiliated with the State Examinations Commission; audio files are hosted on examinations.ie.

Where do the section timestamps come from?

Each exam audio is transcribed with ElevenLabs Scribe (word-level timestamps). The transcript is passed to OpenAI GPT-4o with the phrases used to introduce each section — section A in French, fragen zu teil eins in German, número uno in Spanish — and the model returns the start time of each section. Recent years are spot-checked by hand.
