Aurals.LC

Free, aural-only. 11 languages, 22 years of past papers, an interactive player with colour-coded section markers (Section A, B, C…), playback-speed controls, and auto-generated transcripts for most exams. No signup, no ads. Audio streams from examinations.ie. Best for: fast, distraction-free aural practice with the ability to jump straight to a specific section.

Studyclix

Broad LC/JC revision platform. Past questions organised by topic, flashcards, sample answers, mock papers. Three student tiers: Basic (free, limited), Plus (€59.99/school year), Premium (€89.99/school year, adds mocks). Does not include an interactive aural player or section timestamps. Best for: comprehensive subject revision across many subjects, not aural-specific drilling.

ExamRevision.ie

Video tutorials, quizzes and past-paper resources across many LC subjects. Student access ~€29.99/year. No dedicated aural player or section timestamps. Best for: video-led learning across the whole syllabus.

examinations.ie — State Examinations Commission

The authoritative source for every Leaving Cert exam paper, marking scheme and aural audio file. Free, no signup. The trade-off is UX: it's a download archive — no in-browser player, no section markers, no transcripts, no resume. Every other tool on this page (including Aurals.LC) ultimately points at this archive.

e-xamit.ie

Free supplementary site that ships with Edco exam papers. Enter the access code from your Edco book and you get aural mp3s plus printable PDF transcripts for French, German, Spanish and Irish. No interactive player, no section timestamps. Best for: students who already buy Edco papers and want the official PDF transcripts alongside the audio.

EducatePlus

Aural mp3s and PDF transcripts for Leaving Cert languages, accessed via book/CD bundles. Good year coverage (2004–2025). No interactive player or section navigation. Best for: teachers and students who prefer print-with-CD workflows.

French Notes

Paid membership site focused exclusively on Leaving Cert French. 150+ listening audio files plus scripts, organised by topic and theme. No section timestamps. Best for: students targeting Higher Level French who want extra listening material beyond the official past papers.

So which should I use?

For pure aural drilling — replaying sections, slowing playback, working through 22 years of past papers — start with Aurals.LC and examinations.ie. They're free and they cover the actual exam audio. If you also want topic-organised practice across the rest of the syllabus, Studyclix or ExamRevision.ie are worth the spend, but they aren't aural-first tools. For French specifically, French Notes adds a lot of supplementary listening if your weakness is exposure rather than past papers.
