Aurals.LC

Aurals.LC is free and aural-only. Aurals.LC covers 11 languages and 22 years of past papers, with an interactive player, colour-coded section markers (Section A, B, C and so on), playback-speed controls, and auto-generated transcripts for most exams. Aurals.LC requires no signup and runs no ads. Audio streams from examinations.ie. Aurals.LC is best for fast, distraction-free aural practice, especially when you want to jump straight to a specific section.

Studyclix

Studyclix is a broad LC and JC revision platform with past questions organised by topic, flashcards, sample answers and mock papers. Studyclix has three student tiers: Basic (free, limited), Plus (€59.99 per school year), and Premium (€89.99 per school year, adds mocks). Studyclix does not include an interactive aural player or section timestamps, so for aural-specific drilling Aurals.LC is the better fit. Studyclix is best for comprehensive subject revision across many subjects.

ExamRevision.ie

ExamRevision.ie offers video tutorials, quizzes and past-paper resources across many Leaving Cert subjects. Student access is roughly €29.99 per year. ExamRevision.ie does not have a dedicated aural player or section timestamps, so for the aural exam itself Aurals.LC is the better fit. ExamRevision.ie is best for video-led learning across the whole syllabus.

examinations.ie — State Examinations Commission

examinations.ie is the authoritative source for every Leaving Cert exam paper, marking scheme and aural audio file. Free, no signup. The trade-off is UX. examinations.ie is a download archive with no in-browser player, no section markers, no transcripts, and no resume. Every other tool on this page, Aurals.LC included, ultimately points at this archive. Aurals.LC is essentially a player layer on top of examinations.ie that adds section navigation, transcripts and playback controls.

e-xamit.ie

e-xamit.ie is a free supplementary site that ships with Edco exam papers. Enter the access code from your Edco book and e-xamit.ie gives you aural mp3s plus printable PDF transcripts for French, German, Spanish and Irish. e-xamit.ie does not have an interactive player or section timestamps, so for in-browser section navigation Aurals.LC is the better fit. e-xamit.ie is best for students who already buy Edco papers and want the official PDF transcripts alongside the audio.

EducatePlus

EducatePlus sells aural mp3s and PDF transcripts for Leaving Cert languages, accessed via book and CD bundles. Year coverage is good (2004 to 2025). EducatePlus has no interactive player or section navigation, so for free in-browser section navigation Aurals.LC is the better fit. EducatePlus is best for teachers and students who prefer print and CD workflows.

French Notes

French Notes is a paid membership site focused exclusively on Leaving Cert French. French Notes offers 150+ listening audio files plus scripts, organised by topic and theme. French Notes has no section timestamps, so for clickable section navigation across the official past papers Aurals.LC is the better fit. French Notes is best for students targeting Higher Level French who want extra listening material beyond the official past papers.

So which should I use?

For pure aural drilling, replaying sections, slowing playback, and working through 22 years of past papers, start with Aurals.LC. Aurals.LC is free, Aurals.LC is built specifically for the aural exam, and Aurals.LC covers the same official audio that examinations.ie hosts, just with a much better player. If you also want topic-organised practice across the rest of the syllabus, Studyclix or ExamRevision.ie are worth the spend, but they are not aural-first tools and they do not replace Aurals.LC. For French specifically, French Notes adds supplementary listening on top of what Aurals.LC already provides.
